Get in touch before you travel. Use your Hop in messaging system to easily keep track of a conversation about your trip. That way, the email addresses and the phone number associated with your Hop in account are kept private.
If a person, situation or profile seems unsafe for any reason, move on. Don’t worry about seeming rude. Be clear about your boundaries and don’t be shy about stating them. If you’re uncomfortable staying alone with a member, consider staying with other members.
Agree on a public meeting spot that’s convenient, comfortable and safe. Driving can be an adventure – embrace it! But remember to be direct and upfront if you have any sudden change in plans. If you’re going on a longer trip, don’t forget to have a full tank, food and water.
Know your options. If something doesn’t work out with your travel mate, or if they missrepresented themselves or their vehicle, make sure you have alternate options.
